Day of Exit:
Simone’s Notes:
Infidelity, also referred to as cheating, adultery, or having an affair, is a
violation of a couple’s assumed or stated contract regarding emotional and/or
sexual exclusivity. Other scholars define infidelity as a violation according to
the subjective feeling that one's partner has violated a set of rules or
relationship norms; this violation results in feelings of sexual jealousy and
rivalry. What constitutes an act of infidelity is dependent upon the exclusivity
expectations within the relationship. In marital relationships, exclusivity
expectations are commonly assumed although they are not always met. When they
are not met, research has found that psychological damage can occur, including
feelings of rage and betrayal, lowering of sexual and personal confidence, and
damage to self-image. Depending on the context, men and women can experience
social consequences if their act of infidelity becomes public. The form and
extent of these consequences are often dependent on the gender of the unfaithful
person.
Simone leaves
today.
She is going
back to England.
Amestris is no
longer safe for her.
At first, she
didn’t understand the situation.
“But why? I
still have so much to learn.”
Her sister,
Lauren, said,
“We have to go.”
“But why?”
“They won’t
say.”
Her sister knew
that something was wrong when
Roy told her on
the phone.
“War is coming,”
he said.
“Take Simone and
go back to England.”
He hung up
before she could ask a single question.
Simone still
didn’t get it.
“But I still
have my research to do!”
Lauren said,
“I already
explained the situation to your professor.”
“What?”
“Just pack up.
We are leaving by train in the morning!”
They weren’t the
only ones.
The wise could
see trouble heading for them.
They followed
Mustang’s advice to Lauren.
People started
to leave in droves.
Simone still had
her questions.
“What about my
research?”
“You’ll finish
it back at home.”
Simone opened
her mouth, but Lauren stopped her.
“Please don’t
ask any more questions.”
The younger
sister tried again, but was stopped.
“Don’t!”
After about five
minutes, Simone gave up.
Her sister
breathed out.
“Go pack up.
Now!”
Simone complied
without any more question.
She still didn’t
get the danger.
Lauren didn’t,
but she didn’t dare question it.
They had to
leave by sunrise.
Simone thought
she wouldn’t get a chance to say goodbye.
To her surprise,
Dr. Howard was leaving with them.
Dr. Howard said,
“I’ve had enough
of Amestris anyway,
England sounds
much more interesting.”
By morning, the
ladies left the city.
They weren’t the
only ones.
Most of the
foreigners and tourists left in a hurry
Simone held her
notes to her chest.
She wondered
what would happen next.
Everyone else
could sense something big coming on.
Luckily, they
had the brains to get out before things got worse.
As for everyone
else,
Well…
Yeah.
We will have to see.
