Simone’s Notes:

With increasing modernization or westernization in many parts of the world and the continuous shift towards isolated nuclear families, the old support structures are no longer there and the need for relationship counseling is greater than ever. In western society the trend is towards trained relationship counselors; these are often volunteers who wish to help others, and are trained by either the Government or social service institutions to help those who are in need of counseling. Many communities and government departments have their own team of trained voluntary or professional relationship counselors. Similar services are operated by many universities and colleges, often staffed by volunteers from among the student peer group. Some large companies maintain a full-time professional counseling staff to facilitate smoother interactions between corporate employees, to minimize the negative effects that personal difficulties might have on work performance.

The final nail the coffin for Townshed’s marriage came on a nice day in March. It started with Nora in the kitchen making some hot chocolate for them both. She didn’t hear him come into the apartment until he stopped in the kitchen doorway. She didn’t notice him then until she turned around with the trays. “Oh, Roger!” she called in slight surprise. “I didn’t hear you come in. What are you doing here? I thought you had work today.” Then, she noticed her husband’s face. He had a sad look in his eyes. His wife felt very sorry for him. “Dearest?” she asked. “What’s the matter?” Roger didn’t speak at first. “Nora,” he said at last. “We need to talk.” Nora’s face dropped to a serious look. “What do you mean? What is the matter with you?” she asked. “Please!” Roger just pleaded out in misery. “Just take the hot chocolate with you and sit down at the table. I’m begging you! I really need to get this out!” Nora just shrugged. “Fine.” she said at last. “We’ll talk!” Roger slowly became relieved. “Thanks Nora!” he called out. His wife tried to stay positive, but couldn’t. This was a bad sign that would lead to the bitter end.

They sat down nicely at the dinner table. Nora set the tray down in front of them. “Now, tell me what’s wrong.” she said. Roger took in a deep breath at first. He didn’t exactly know how to phrase this. But he would have to try. “Are you really happy?” he asked. His wife looked at him confused at first. “What do you mean?” she asked. Townshed felt himself trembling again. This was much easier in his head. Reality can complicate things so much. But he had to keep going. “I’m just curious,” he went on. “You seem to be acting strangely lately.” Nora watched him like this was news to her. “How so?” she asked like a little child. Roger rubbed his head as he tried to force the words out of his mouth. “You don’t seem to be satisfied in bed lately,” he announced at last. “Why? And for how long?” Nora froze for a moment. She figured out what this was all about. Now, the woman was really worried. What could she say to this without sounding painful?

“It’s not you,” she began. Nora paused for a moment to see his face. Roger was surprising curious at that statement. She waited for him to speak but he didn’t. That made his wife even more nervous. She had no choice but to keep going. “It’s not you,” Nora said again. “It’s just… It’s just… You know…” “You don’t come?” Roger finished. “Yes,” his wife said. “I mean no. I mean, I do. Just… not with you.” That really floored Roger. “You don’t?” he asked in shock. Nora shook her head normally. The major general felt as if he was in a bad dream. Each word that was coming out of her mouth was worse than the last one. “Then,” he managed to say at last. “Who do you come with?” Nora was blushing wildly. “Oh my!” she called out. Rog began to put two and two together. He didn’t like the results of that one!

“You come… with Doug?!?” Townshed asked in shock. Nora blushed as she nodded. That really made the man sick. He was so pale looking. Now, Nora wished she hadn’t said anything at all. She was really afraid for both men now. “I don’t know what to say!” her husband called at last. “I’m so sorry…” his wife murmured. The major general held up his hand to stop her. Nora went quiet again. The major general looked really crushed. Then, her husband rose from the table and handed out the door. Nora turned and looked after him in worry. “Where are you going?” she called out to him. Her soon-to-be ex-husband didn’t answer her. He just slammed the door behind him so loud that it nearly shook the whole room. Nora sat in complete worry now. “Please don’t hurt him, Roger!” she thought in a panic. It was hard to do any housework after that.

Roger found Doug in the bar. He was surrounded by women talking and laughing. He lightly tapped the lt. on the shoulder from behind. Kobe turned around slowly. Roger stood in front of him looking like he was going to cry. The lt. looked at him confused. “Townshed?” he asked. “What are you doing here?” Townshed tried to keep himself strong. “Kobe!” he called desperately. “I really need your help!” There was silence at first. Then, Doug turned to his ladies and said, “I’m going to step up for a little while. Carry on without me, okay?” “Alright!” the girls agreed. Then, Doug turned back to Townshed. “Let’s go outside for this.” the lt. said. “Okay!” Roger replied. Then, they headed outside behind the bar.

“Now what’s wrong?” Doug asked his “friend.” Roger hesitated at first. “It’s Nora, again!” he called out at last. The lt. raised an eyebrow at him on that one. “Huh?” he asked. “What’s wrong with her now?” The major general hesitated again at first. He leaned in close. Doug listened. “She says she can only come with you.” Roger spilled at last. That threw Doug for a loop. “Really now?” he asked. The major general nodded. Doug looked at him confused. “And…” he began again. “What do you want me to do about it?” Townshed looked around nervously. “I need you to… you know…” he said was slight regret. Doug quickly understood. “Oh!” he called. “When?” “Tonight!” Roger said sickly. That really shocked Kobe. “Now?” he asked. “Yeah!” Townshed replied. Another silence passed between them.

Roger even reached into his jacket and pulled out a key. “Here!” he called. “This is the key to my house. Take it!” Doug froze for a bit as if to see if this was a trick. Then, he smiled and took the key. “Okay!” he called. “I won’t let you down!” Roger tried not to look upset. Then, Doug headed away from the bar. Roger watched in rightful fear. He just couldn’t stand and wait any longer. Once the lt. was out of sight, the major general followed behind nervously. His marriage was on numbered hours.

Doug made it straight to the Townshed apartment. He unlocked the door and went inside. Nora was sitting on the couch waiting for him. She saw him coming to the house from the second floor in her bedroom. Tonight, Nora was dressed in a black lacy nightgown and nice-looking make-up. Her cleavage was in clear view to the lt. She was smiling at him seductively. Doug couldn’t help but to smile back at her. “Been expecting me, eh?” he asked aloud. “Oh yes.” Nora replied sexually. The lt. instantly fell back into his old habits at the sight of this newly-made seductress. The mission was officially lost to him. But the ruin carried on.

Doug stepped forward and kissed Nora on the lips. The wife didn’t hesitate kissing back. Soon the old flame heated up again. Nora led him straight up to her bedroom. She let herself fall back onto the bed. Doug huddled over her. He quickly unbuttoned his jacket, ripped it right off, and threw it straight to the ground. “What would you like tonight?” he asked her. The wife smiled at him wickedly. “You, of course!” she called. The lt. grinned back at her. “Glad to hear!” he called. Then, they kissed again on the lips. Doug flipped up her nightgown and slid off her black lacy panties. He moved down and slipped his tongue. Nora shut her eyes happily. No sooner did he start licking, the WAG moaned out happily. Her mind was lost in a sea of pleasure. Roger could never compare to Doug! Sure, she loved her husband but he couldn’t satisfy her the way that she wanted. This was what she was missing from her life. Doug had found it for her.

Roger made it to the bedroom door and peeked into the crack. What he saw sent him into a new level of despair. His fears had been confirmed. The one person he asked for help betrayed him in the end. And his dear wife wasn’t the woman he had come to know. The major general was now a broken man. “My own Nora!” he thought in shock. The man was so startled that he nearly fell into the bedroom. Nora quickly became distracted and returned to Earth. Doug quickly stopped what he was doing and looked up. “What’s wrong Nora?” he asked. “Oh shit!” she whispered. “My husband’s in the room!” “Huh?” the lt. asked in shock. He looked up and saw Roger in complete shock. All three didn’t know what to say at first. “Uh… hi Townshed, sir…” Doug said at last. But the rest of the words fell flat to the ground. The ugly storm was brewing.

Within seconds, Nora and Roger were fighting in the bedroom while Doug waited out in the hall. Nora sat on the bed watching him bitterly. “How could you do this to me?!?” the husband yelled out. “I trusted you all of these years and tried to get you the best! And this is how you repay me?!?” Nora couldn’t take it anymore. It was now or never with him! “Yes!” she yelled out. Roger stared at her complete shock. “WHAT?!?” he yelled out. Nora stood to her feet bravely. “That’s all you do,” she snapped as she got dressed in her street clothes. “I know you mean well, but you baby me too much! I can’t breathe! Doug showed me to be free!” “But you never liked sex so much!” Townshed yelled out. “Well now I do!” his wife snapped back as she began picking up her things. “I like it! You just don’t satisfy me anymore! I love you, but I’m sorry I married you!” Roger was really confused now. “So what are you saying?” he asked. Nora stopped packing her things and looked up. “Size matters!” she barked. “I’m filing for divorce tomorrow!” Roger just sat down silent again. He had lost his whole world. The soon-to-be ex wife took her suitcases and walked out the door. Before she left, Nora walked over to Doug, thanked him for freedom, and kissed him lightly on the lips. That was the end of their marriage. Lt. Kobe had broken another happy home.
