Stargazer:

Simone’s Notes:

An intimate relationship is an interpersonal relationship that involves physical or emotional intimacy. Physical intimacy is characterized by romantic or passionate attachment or sexual activity. While the term intimate relationship commonly implies the inclusion of a sexual relationship, the term is also used as a euphemism for a relationship that is strictly sexual. Intimate relationships play a central role in the overall human experience. Humans have a general desire to belong and to love, which is usually satisfied within an intimate relationship. These relationships involve feelings of liking or loving one or more people, romance, physical or sexual attraction, sexual relationships, or emotional and personal support between the members. Intimate relationships allow a social network for people to form strong emotional attachments.

Paul spent his weekends out in the country. On Friday night, he walked out to his car.

“I’m heading out to see some friends, dad!” he shouted from the doorway.

“Okay,” Steven replied. “Drive safely and call me when you get there.”

“I will,” his son said. Paul walked out the door and got into his car. He counted down to seeing her again as he drove down the road. Paul pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number.

“Hello?” a girl asked on the other line. A smile spread across his face.

“Julie,” he said. “How are you tonight?”

“I’m good,” she replied. “How are you?”

“Great, I’m on my way right now.”

“How long before I see you?”

Paul glanced down at the clock in the car. “I think about an hour or so. What do you want to do when I get there?”

“Not much.”

Paul pouted at her answered. “Oh come on, we only get to see each other on the weekends. Are you sure?”

“Can we watch the stars tonight?”

“We can do that. I’ll see you at your house.” Paul hung up and drove further down the road.

When Paul pulled up into Julie’s driveway, he found her standing on the porch, waiting for him. He smiled as he shut off the car. She spotted him when he climbed out of the car.

“Waiting long?” Paul asked.

“Nah,” she said. They met up in the middle of her lawn. He happened to look over to their left and notice a red and white blanket spread out on the grass.

“You came prepared, didn’t you?” he asked.

“Why yes,” Julie answered. Both lay down on the blanket facing the sky. It didn’t take long for him to take hold of her hand. Julie gave him a little pout.

“What?” Paul asked.

“When will you introduce me to your family?” she asked. Paul gave her a little smile.

“Soon,” he whispered. His girlfriend frowned. Paul noticed the look on her face.

“What’s the matter?”

“You’ve already met my family. Why can’t I meet yours yet?”

Paul lightly pressed his forehead against hers. “I know, I just want to make sure that we last strong enough for that part.”

Julie pouted at him. “Sounds like an excuse for me not to meet them.”

He pulled her in closer to his body. “I’m not lying. You will meet my folks when I am ready for you to.”

“You promise?”

Paul gave her a little kiss on the lips. “I promise.”

Julie cuddled up close to his chest. “I love you.”

He panted her on the head. “I love you too.” They spent the rest of the night gazing at the stars and talking.
