Simone’s Notes:

In philosophical, theological, or moral discussions, corruption often refers to spiritual or moral impurity, or deviation from an ideal. Frequently, this takes the form of contrasting a pure spiritual form with a corrupted manifestation in the physical world. Many philosophers, in fact, have regarded the physical world as inevitably corrupt. Plato being the most famous example of this school of thought. Another philosophical use of the term "corruption" is in opposition to "generation," as in Aristotle's book On Generation and Corruption also known as On Coming to Be and Passing Away. In this sense, corruption is the process of ceasing to exist and is closely related to the concept of dying given certain views about the nature of living things. In a moral sense, corruption generally refers to decadence or hedonism. In theological or political debates, certain viewpoints are sometimes accused of being corruptions of orthodox systems of belief, which is to say, they are accused of having deviated from some older correct view.

A new month has arrived. Winter was beginning to retreat back for the year. Spring hasn’t shown up yet, however. It is not going to do so this year. Another sign of terrifying times has risen among us. It isn’t the blood or poison known as lust. No, there is another threat leaking out from the Fallen Ones. One that is rising up from the ground.

The snow buried it in the beginning. But once that melted away, it awoke and began looking for life to feast on. But, what was the appetizer? Not the elderly, their meat was too dried out. Not the babies, their meat was too premature. One day through the city turned up nothing.

Humans are such boring, predictable creatures, it muttered from the rooftops.

“Really now?” a voice asked. One eye opened behind it. Manami stood near the doorway to the stairs. The creature gave off a low whistle.

“Well, look at you,” it said. “You can’t possibly be human. But yet, you feel as human as they come. What are you?”

Manami gave it a shrug. “Whatever you want me to be.”

“You’re a strange one.”

“Me the strange one? What exactly are you?”

“Why does it matter to you?”

“I’m just curious about why you find humans boring and predictable.”

“They do the same thing day after day. All they worry about is themselves. Where’s the fun in that?”

Manami chuckled at the creature. It narrowed its eye at her.

“And what’s so funny?” it asked. The Fallen princess gave him a little shrug.

“I personally find humans to be fascinating creatures.”

It huffed at her. “And why is that?”

“They are so easy to manipulate and toy with.” Manami’s body trembled in delight. “Ooo, I get horny thinking about it!”

“You really are a strange one.”

“Maybe…” Then, an idea filled her head. “Consume me.”

“Say what?”

The princess shrugged at him. “Why not? I know a good source for you to feed on until you are content and I think you could be of a big help for my mission for the humans.”

“What kind of mission?”

“Helping to break the cycle of the mundane of these humans that bore you so much.”

“And why should I believe you?”

“Oh, just that I am a lady looking for that one good time that will blow me away.”

“How do I help you?”

“Come into my body and consume my power.”

“Just like that?”

“Yes.”

“And you’ll feed me?”

“Of course.”

“You sure you can handle me?”

“No.”

“So why do you do this?”

“It’s something to do.”

Silence of as if the creature was thinking. Finally, more eyes opened around the creature’s body as it laughed.

“You really are a strange one.”

“So it’s a deal?”

“Yeah.”

Manami held out her hand and shut her eyes. She felt the red fog touch her fingertips and get sucked up into the pores. A violent shock shook through her body and then it settled. Manami opened her eyes and lowered her hand. A dirty smirk came onto her face.

The source was born and now to spread it to the others. And then, the Fallen Kingdom’s gates will quiver to be unlocked.
