Poison Ivy:

Simone’s Notes:

Calling a historical figure a lesbian can be misleading. Women who have written about their affection for each other, along with spinsters who lived together for years, have often been viewed without much hint they had intimate relationships. With the coming of second wave feminism in the later 20th Century, a tendency to view all women in more or less heterosexual terms stirred a rebellion in which the definition of lesbian was challenged. Some groups widened the definition to mean any woman who didn't live a traditional heterosexual life. In 1970 the lesbian feminist organization Radicalesbians stated, "A lesbian is the rage of all women condensed to the point of explosion." In 1980 feminist writer and poet Adrienne Rich proposed a continuum of lesbian relationships ranging from sexual to platonic. Rich wrote that instead of sexual relationships between women, lesbian can mean any woman who avoids a conventional married life and resists male tyranny. Rich suggested lesbian relationships can happen between women who live or work together, even within the same family. An updated view on this wider definition has to do with the girl crush as written about by Stephanie Rosenbloom in The New York Times. Rosenbloom defines a girl crush as "that fervent infatuation that one heterosexual woman develops for another woman who may seem impossibly sophisticated, gifted, beautiful or accomplished." Such girl crushes may trigger the same kind of feelings involved in a romance; and although not sexual in nature, these feelings may sway relationship dynamics if the object of the crush learns about them. This broadening of the meaning for lesbian as any woman who bonds with another woman became known as woman identified woman. However, this usage has been criticized as desexualizing lesbians. Cheshire Calhoun wrote in 1995, "When feminist woman loving replaces lesbian genital sexuality, lesbian sexual identity disappears into feminist identity."

It wasn’t long before Lucy fell back into her old habits again. It never fails. She was the mother of all sluts. She was the sluttiest on the gay team. Everyone knew this except for poor Suri. The other nurses knew. Izzie found this out this morning. You see, she and the other nurses knew that Suri was secretly seeing Lucy again. It was no surprise. That nurse couldn’t say no to her former flame. Too bad, she didn’t see the receptionist’s true colors. But that was going to change to today. Izzie was on her break at the time. She was going to pick up some coffee when she heard strange noises coming from the closet. Curious, the nurse followed the sound. She came to the janitor’s closet. Izzie opened the door wide. Boy was she in for a shock tonight! Lucy was having sex with another nurse. Both women looked up quickly. Izzie smirked at her.

“Well, well, well,” she called out. “What is all of this?” Both women were silent. The nurse stood up straight embarrassed. Izzie looked at her smiling.

“Sharon!” she called. “I never knew you were bi-curious! I always thought that you were straight!” The other nurse’s cheeks went bright red.

“Oh shite!” she mumbled to herself. Then, she got herself dressed and quickly hurried back to her shift. Izzie and Lucy watched her run away. Lucy was smirking as she was running away. The nurse turned back to the receptionist. She was looking at her innocently. Izzie cleared her throat.

“Well now,” she said. “I see you haven’t changed at all one bit.” Lucy just shrugged.

“What can I say?” the receptionist asked. “I love the women!” Izzie frowned at her now.

“Too bad, Suri doesn’t know any of that!” she remarked. Lucy looked at her surprised.

“What?!?” she asked.

“Oh come on!” the nurse called. “It was obvious! Suri can’t refuse you!” Lucy didn’t know what to say at first. Then, she smirked again.

“Oh well,” the nurse said. “I guess some old habits die hard.” Izzie smirked at her coldly. An idea came into her mind. She would bust Lucy once and for all tonight. She just kept the smile to herself.

“Fine,” the nurse said. “Have your fun.” Then, she walked away. Lucy just shrugged, got dressed, and walked off. That was it… for now anyway.

For the rest of the day, Izzie was spying on her “friend.” She wasn’t going to come out and tell Suri that Lucy was cheating again. That never worked. The poor nurse was so into the receptionist that she didn’t believe anything negative about her. It was the sad truth. But, Izzie wasn’t going to stand by and have Suri suffer another heartbreak. So what to do? What to do? There was only one way to fix this. The nurse would have to see the truth for herself. It was painful; but it would hurt Izzie more than it hurt Suri. Besides, the truth would have to come out sometime. If only she could find a leak…

“Yes, Ciara!” Lucy whispered over the phone at the front desk. That caught Izzie’s ear and she listened in closely. This was it! This was the leak that she was hoping for. Lucy went on unaware.

“Yes Ciara,” she said. “The date is still on. What time? Nine tonight. At the beach like usual. See you then, love you!” Then, they hung up the phone. Lucy smiled to herself wickedly. She had a date tonight. Izzie smiled at her. Lucy was going to be busted now. It was time to set it all in.

The nurse found her friend at work. Izzie tried her best to keep from smiling. She lightly tapped Suri on the shoulder. She turned around. Izzie looked at her seriously. Suri was slightly confused.

“Yes?” she asked. Izzie fought hard to keep her serious face and breathe in. She leaned in close to the younger nurse’s ear.

“I know that you’re seeing her again!” she hissed. Suri looked at her innocently.

“Seeing who?” she asked.

“Don’t bother to lie to me,” her friend said. Suri just sighed.

“What do you want from me, Izzie?” she asked. “I’m f*****g Lucy!”

“But what about Kain?” her friend asked. Suri just shrugged.

“I love him too,” she said. “But I am seeing Lucy to perfect my techniques.” Izzie just rolled her eyes. Any excuse to be with Lucy again. How pathetic was that? Anyway, time to act on the plan.

“I see!” Izzie called out. “In fact, I think you should see her at, oh say, nine o’clock tonight at the beach.” Suri raised an eyebrow at her.

“Why?” she asked. Her friend just shrugged.

“Oh,” Izzie said. “I just thought you would like to surprise her a bit.” Then, the nurse walked away. Suri looked at her confused. She was up to something. “You know what!” Nurse Kamash thought. “I am going to the beach tonight!” Izzie was smiling as she walked away. “Good,” she thought. “I’ve got her interested now!” It was time to watch all of the chips fall into their rightful places.

The day soared by gracefully. Izzie was counting down to the breakdown of the truth. Suri was dressed and ready to go out for the night. Her friend sat at the doorway waiting. She looked up when she heard footsteps. Suri was just about to walk out the door when she turned and looked. Izzie was smirking at her. Suri looked at her curiously again.

“What are you doing out here?” she asked. Izzie just shrugged. Her friend raised an eyebrow at her again. She was really suspicious now.

“Okay,” Suri snapped. “What the hell are you up to now?!?” Her friend shrugged again.

“Nothing really,” Izzie said. “Enjoy your night.” Then she walked away. Suri looked at her funny as she did. Something was up indeed. What, she couldn’t be so sure just yet. There was only one way to find out. Suri stepped right out the door. All was going according to plan.

Suri took the train out to the beach like she did last time. The nurse hurried all the way down to the beach. When she saw next rally crushed her heart into pieces. Lucy was lying on the beach kissing on another woman. No, it was actually worse than that. They were actually having sex on the beach! Suri tried her best to deny what was happening right now. She blinked really hard. But sadly, the image didn’t change. Her old flame, Lucy, was still shagging that other woman. Suri’s stomach dropped in sorrow. She just walked away crushed. But, the nurse was going to grieve in her order special way.

The next morning, she knocked on Molly’s door.

“Coming!” the girl called from inside. Suri waited inside getting up her grief and anger together. She was going to confess to Kain and make Lucy pay all in one go. The door finally opened. Molly looked her up and down surprised.

“Nurse Kamash!” she exclaimed. “Can I help you?”

“Yes,” Suri said. “I have addition to your map to make!” Molly’s eyes lit up in delight.

“Okay then,” she said. “Right this way!” Then, they headed down the hall. Molly and Suri added onto the map in seconds. Suri was romantically connected to Kain, Lucy, Ginger, Mary, and Joe. The nurse looked at the new addition to the map. She slowly began to feel better already. Now to publicly break-up with Lucy in the most spirit crushing way!

Meanwhile, Jean and Maria came across a shocking discovery. They were looking at pictures of the crime scene when one photo in particular caught Havoc’s attention big time.

“Hey Ross,” he said.

“Yes?” she asked.

“Come look at this,” Jean said. She walked over to him and the photo. It was a close-up of Alex looking on in fear at Rebecca’s dead body. So far, Ross didn’t notice anything.

“So?” she asked.

“When did Alex say that he threw away his bracelet?” Havoc asked.

“The day after the murder,” Ross replied. “Why?”

“Look at the picture again,” he said. Maria did so quietly. Then, she discovered it right away.

“His bracelet is gone in this picture!” she said.

“Exactly!” Havoc said.

“So…” she said. “What does this mean?” The lt. knew the answer already. But, he had to be certain first. He turned to Maria Ross.

“I think Alex knows who killed both women,” Jean said. “But he is too afraid to say who for some reason.” Both thought and put the reasoning together piece by piece.

“So, what do we do?” Ross asked. Havoc looked her square in the eye.

“What else can we do?” he replied. “Go back to Alex, get him into a safe place, find out the truth, trap the killer, and arrest him on the spot.”

“And what of Alex if the killer gets away?” Ross asked him. Havoc smiled at that question.

“We get him the best that we can!” he said briskly. Maria smiled at him brightly.

“You thought of everything, haven’t you lt?” she asked impressed. Havoc just shrugged at her modestly. A little smug smile was across his face.

“Yeah,” he said. “One has to plan for these things when situations like this come up!”

“Is that so?” Ross asked with a smiled.

“Yeah,” Havoc replied.

“Why aren’t you a general yet?” she asked.

“Haven’t gotten there,” Havoc said. “But, I’m working on it. I’ve heard I was getting another promotion soon. Now, let’s go get Alex and question him again.

“Right!” Ross said. Then, they headed out the door to close the case. Behind, Shane, Bette, and Helena were following close behind. They too wanted the case closed and Alex safe. They were going there for support. The plot and drama thickened with each step. You see, Shane let it “slip” to Havoc about what was really going on. He himself put all of the pieces together and see everything. Now it was time to fight back against the Fallen Ones. Playtime was over; it was time to really get to work here!
