New Girl:

Simone’s Notes:

Love rectangle is a somewhat facetious term to describe a romantic relationship that involves four people, analogous to the typically three-sided love triangle. Many people use this term for a romantic relationship between two people that is complicated by the romantic attentions of two other people, but it is more frequently reserved for relationships where there are more connections. Minimally, both male characters usually have some current or past association with both female characters. These relationships need not be sexual; they can be friendships or familial relations. Both males and/or both females can also be friends, family members or sworn enemies. Love rectangles tend to be more complicated than love triangles, often using their tangled relationships as a source of comedic humor, like in Manga.

Alphonse met her on her way to school. He was crossing the street. She was rushing to school because she was late again. She kept running until… CRASH! They both fell straight to the ground. Her books and homework were scattered everywhere. Al sat up in slight pain.

“Ow!” he said as he was rubbing his head.

“OH GOD I’M SO SORRY!!!” a girl’s voice yelled out. Alphonse quickly opened his eyes. A young girl about fifteen was on her knees in pain. She was a pretty young thing. Her hair was fiery red and in a cute boyish cut. Her face was sweet and young. The girl had on Maywillow High’s school uniform just like Amy’s. Her schoolbag was black and pink. The girl had cute shiny pink hairclips in her hair. She seemed to be crying. Alphonse couldn’t help but to attracted to her.

“I’M SO SORRY!!!” the girl yelled out again. “I’M LATE AGAIN TO CLASS AND I WAS IN HURRY!!! I DIDN’T WANT TO GET INTO TROUBLE AGAIN!!! PLEASE DON’T BE ANGRY WITH ME!!! I JUST DON’T WANT TO BE LATE AGAIN!!!” But then she held a soft shush. The girl quickly looked up. Alphonse was softly smiling at her. He just kept staring at her. “Wow! I never realized she had such teal-blue eyes!” he thought in surprise.

“It’s okay,” Alphonse said to her at last. The girl looked at him surprised.

“Really?” she asked. Al nodded. Then he reached forward and slowly helped her up. Carrie began to blush at his touch. “His hands are so strong!” she thought in awe. “And such a gentleman too!” Her heart skipped a beat. Once he got her to her feet, Alphonse began to pick up her books and things like a gentleman. He neatly put them back into her school bag. The girl was gracious all over.

“Thank you!” she called out happily. But then she looked down in her bag. “Oh no!” the girl cried out. Alphonse’s face dropped into worry.

“What’s the matter?” he asked. His new acquaintance looked all around in a panic.

“I’ve lost Nia!” she replied. Al was confused.

“Nia?” he asked.

“My little pink bear!” she answered as she kept looking around. “I always bring her to school with me. She must’ve fallen out when I ran into you.” Alphonse helped her look around like a gentleman. They found the bear lying in the mud inches away from them.

“There it is!” he yelled out. The girl turned behind her.

“Oh!” she moaned in pity. “She’s all dirty!” Alphonse kept smiling at her nicely.

“It’s okay,” he said. Then he transmutated the mud into the water. He picked up the bear and washed it off. Carrie watched in amazement. “He is an alchemist!” she thought happily. Alphonse took out the bear and rung him out to dry. He handed it to her. The girl just shoved the bear back.

“No, no.” she said. “You can hold onto for today.”

“Really now?” Alphonse asked her.

“I trust you with her,” the girl replied. “Say, would you like to walk with me to school?” Alphonse blushed pretty quickly. He wasn’t expecting this! But how could he say no?

“Sure!” the boy replied in a happy rush.

“Great!” the girl said happily. “I’m Carrie Maxwell, by the way!”

“Alphonse Elric,” Alphonse told her. Carrie smiled at him.

“Great, we know each other!” she said. “Shall we go?”

“Yeah!” Alphonse cheered out. His new crush giggled.

“Okay then,” she replied. Then they headed onward the Carrie’s school. The pair talked on along the way. Carrie proved to be a smart girl. She came from a rich family. The girl had many dreams. She wanted to be a veterinarian because she loved animals. Alphonse just enjoyed her talking the whole time. He loved the sound of her voice. Carrie was just so cute all over. She was the perfect dream girl. She was nice, friendly, smart, pretty, and cheerful. Right then, Alphonse realized something. Amy and Bev might a run for their money. Carrie was just like them only innocent! Al couldn’t help but to smile at that realization. “This could by a nice change from the wild ride that Amy and Bev have put me on!” he thought happily.

“Um, Alphonse,” Carrie spoke up when they were in front of Maywillow High School. The boy looked up at her from his thoughts.

“Yes?” he asked. The girl was blushing wildly now. She didn’t know how to say this.

“Oh my!” Carries said aloud. “I know we just met and all, but I have to say this. But I don’t know how to! Oh my! This is pretty awkward!!!” Alphonse lightly held her hand.

“It’s okay,” he said quickly. “Just take your time.” Carrie didn’t know what to say now. Her cheeks were a bright red. Her heart was pounding now.

“Oh wow!” she replied. Carrie took in a deep breath to get herself calm again. “Strong and calm!” she thought. “He really is the one!” The girl grabbed onto his hand as well. Carrie composed herself strongly. “I like you, Alphonse!” she announced boldly. The little rich girl was blushing even more. Alphonse’s heart skipped a beat at that confession. He *really* wasn’t expecting this! Then, the unthinkable happened! Al held her close to him in his embrace. Carrie’s blush deepened even more. She looked at him in a happy daze.

“I like you too!” Alphonse said back to her. The girl really became happy.

“Really? You mean it?” she asked. Al smiled at her and lightly kissed her on the lips. Carrie’s heart was going wild now. She wasn’t expecting *this*! It was rare that she had a crush on anyone. The last time that she did, he broke her heart. But now, this was her second chance. She decided not to waste it! She was going to do things right this time! The girl kissed back quickly.

When they broke apart, Carrie and Alphonse took a long while to stare lovingly at each other. Al just kept smiling at her. The little rich girl was in deep happiness for a while.

“Well,” she said. “I have to go to class now. I’ll see you around then.”

“Yeah,” her new crush replied. Then, he let go of her and she walked all the way to the school. Carrie was in heaven now. She had forgotten about being. Alphonse smiled as he watched Carrie go to school. This was a lovely break from the wild ride that Amy and Bev led him on.

Within the school, Amy had seen the whole thing. She did not like what she saw. “Slut!” she thought. “How dare she try to make with my boyfriend!” Amy now had two girls to fight over Alphonse with. And believe me; it wasn’t going to be a pretty fight! Duck and cover Al, duck and cover!
