Liquor Love Daze:

Simone’s Notes:

In England and Wales, male rape is recognized by the legal system as a crime. In Scotland, rape is a gender-specific crime; it can only be committed by males upon females. Oral, anal and male rape do not legally constitute rape, nor is digital penetration sufficient. In Brazil, the definition of rape is even more restrictive. It is defined as non-consensual vaginal sex. Therefore, unlike most of Europe and the Americas, male rape, anal rape, and oral rape are not considered to be rape. Instead, such an act is called a "violent attempt against someone's modesty". The penalty, however, is the same. In ancient history, rape was viewed less as a type of assault on the female, than a serious property crime against the man to whom she belonged, typically the father or husband. The loss of virginity was an especially serious matter. The damage due to loss of virginity was reflected in her reduced prospects in finding a husband and in her bride price. This was especially true in the case of betrothed virgins, as the loss of chastity was perceived as severely depreciating her value to a prospective husband. In such cases, the law would void the betrothal and demand financial compensation from the rapist, payable to the woman's household, whose "goods" were "damaged". Under biblical law, the rapist might be compelled to marry the unmarried woman instead of receiving the civil penalty if her father agreed. This was especially prevalent in laws where the crime of rape did not include, as a necessary element, the violation of the woman's body, thus dividing the crime in the current meaning of rape and a means for a man and woman to force their families to permit marriage. The word rape itself originates from the Latin verb rapere: to seize or take by force. The word originally had no sexual connotation and is still used generically in English. The history of rape, and the alterations of its meaning, is quite complex. In Roman law, rape was classified as a form of crimen vis, "crime of assault." Unlike theft or robbery, rape was termed a "public wrong" iniuria publica as opposed to a "private wrong" iniuria privita. Augustus Caesar enacted reforms for the crime of rape under the assault statute Lex Iulia de vi publica, which bears his family name, Iulia. It was under this statute rather than the adultery statute of Lex Iulia de adulteriis that Rome prosecuted this crime. Emperor Justinian confirmed the continued use of the statute to prosecute rape during the 6th century in the Eastern Roman Empire. By late antiquity, the general term raptus had referred to abduction, elopement, robbery, or rape in its modern meaning. Confusion over the term led ecclesial commentators on the law to differentiate it into raptus seductionis and raptus violentiae. Both of these forms of raptus had a civil penalty and possible excommunication for the family and village receiving the abducted woman, although raptus violentiae also incurred punishments of mutilation or death.

On the same night Irene Myer died, a young student was walking to her car in the parking lot for the night. She had just come back from a night class. This pretty young lady looked like a cutie. Sweet deep red rose hair. Eyes of gold and deep dark honey. Fair sweet skin. Tiny yummy little figure. One could guess that the young lady had just turned twenty. This woman even had a bright future ahead of her. But sadly, that would be taken away tonight.

The young woman unlocked her car door. She was just about to open the door when she noticed someone in the reflection of the window. Before the girl could turn away to see, they had grabbed her and dragged her down.

In the morning, the military started on her case. Breda, Missy, Peyton, and Travis all examined the seeming body. The young woman had been through hell last night. Her clothes had been ripped. She lost her panties as well. Bruises, cuts, scrapes covered her lovely fair skin. Dirt and mud had been caked on as well. Same could be said for her nails. The young woman had eyes of terror as well. A visiting colonel from another base looked at the seemingly body as well.

“Rape victim left for dead, I see,” he said.

“No id or anything on the victim,” Breda reported.

“No security cameras in the area at all, sir,” Travis added. “No witnesses either.”

“So we’ve got nothing, huh?” the colonel asked.

“Yeah,” the boys replied. Missy looked down at the body and noticed something.

“What’s that waxy yellow material on her face?” she asked. The colonel looked down unconvinced.

“That’s from my mustard BLT sandwich, love,” he replied. “This is why we need female soldiers with us!” Breda and Travis glared at the colonel. The jerk proved to be a sexist asshole. He kept making comments about Missy and Peyton being on this case.

“These girls should be back at the office serving coffee,” he kept saying in the car. “Women are not qualified for field work or the military at all.” Breda wanted to smack that guy for talking junk about his girlfriend. It took everything in his power to keep it all down and together.

“I assure you,” Travis spoke up. “Both Scott and Hawn are perfectly qualified for the job.” The colonel frowned at him.

“I’ll be the judge of that!” he remarked. Peyton wanted to hit him in the back of the head, but Missy held her back.

“It’s not worth it,” she whispered. “Just get through this and we won’t have to ever see him again.” Peyton sat back some. This would be a fun car trip. Travis took another look at the body.

“Think this is another incubus attack?” he questioned. They all looked up at him. The colonel raised an eyebrow at him on that one.

“An incubus attack?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Travis replied. The other man looked at him as if he had gone off the deep end.

“That’s absurd!” he called out. Breda and Peyton sneered to themselves.

“Too bad no one told him,” the lt. mumbled to the private first class.

“Yeah,” Scott agreed. But then, they noticed Missy kneeling down over the body.

“Missy,” Peyton spoke up. “What are you up to?” Missy put her fingers to the woman’s neck. She looked up in total shock.

“She’s got a pulse!” she cried. “She’s alive!” Everyone turned right around to her. The colonel felt the victim’s pulse as well.

“So she is!” he called.

“And this is why we need female soldiers, huh?” Breda mumbled to him loudly. The colonel pretended not to hear him on that one.

“Call an ambulance!” Travis yelled out. “We’ve got a live one here!” In ten minutes, they all made it to the hospital. Peyton stayed with the victim the whole time. The girl’s eyes stayed open the whole time. Surgery didn’t take long. The girl ended up on a life support machine. Peyton stayed by the whole time. Her heart ached for the poor victim.

“If only you could tell us anything that happened to you last night,” she said to the patient. Then, something caught her eye. Something silver clung onto her wrist. Scott gently picked up the girl’s arm and examined it. Her eyes grew big in surprise.

“You have a puma bracelet!” the private first class gasped out. She looked over at the victim. “You’re in the puma clan, aren’t you?” A sense of hope came over the soldier. “You will survive through this!” she called. “Your clan and bracelet guarantee that!” Then came a knock on the door. Peyton looked up right away. A nurse stood in the doorway. Peyton stood up right away.

“Any news, miss?” she asked. “Is she going to make it? Do you have any id on her?” The nurse looked at her grim. She bit her lip nervously.

“It looks pretty bad,” the nurse replied. “She has sustained many injuries to the brain as well as the rest of her body. She’s paralyzed from the eyes down.”

“Will she be able to recover?” Peyton asked.

“It looks very impossible,” the nurse replied. “But we’ll keep a close watch on her.” Peyton became a bit jumpy at the news.

“She’s part of the puma clan!” she called out. “She has to survive!”

“I can’t promise you anything ma’am,” the nurse said calmly. “The damages might be irreversible.” Peyton didn’t want to hear that.

“She has to survive and keep fighting!” she cried. “She just has to!” The nurse put up her hands.

“Fine,” she replied. “We’ll keep checking.” Scott breathed out some.

“Good!” she called. “Get to it!” The nurse headed back to the testing rooms. Peyton sat down next to the victim. She looked over at the young woman with her eyes wide open.

“Don’t worry!” she called. “We’ll get the monsters that did this to you and make them pay for it!” Peyton felt weak in her own words. She hoped that the girl could pull through.

The next morning, a little hope came into the picture. Peyton made it back to Central Headquarters by then. Travis and Missy greeted her with a little ease in them. Scott looked at them both.

“What’s going on everyone?” she asked. Travis stepped forward.

“We found the victim’s name,” he replied. Peyton looked at him overjoyed.

“Really?” she asked. “What is it?”

“Emily Sidle,” Barrett replied. “She’s a student at Artemis Community College. She was in the nursing program.”

“She just turned twenty,” Missy added. Peyton seemed to tremble all over.

“Twenty?” she asked.

“Yes,” Travis answered. The private first class tightened up again.

“We need to find the bastards that did this to her!” she cried out. Her boss held out his hand.

“Easy now,” he said. “We will, but not when we’re worked up like this.” Scott breathed some.

“You’re right,” she said. “We all should find Emily’s monsters with a cool and rational head.” Peyton turned to head to her desk. Travis and Missy watched her nervously.

“I’m worried about her, sir,” Hawn whispered to her boss.

“I know,” Barrett whispered back. “I’ll pull her from this case if she gets too emotionally attached.”

“Okay,” Hawn replied. They watched Peyton in silence as she began typing on her computer. She could be so emotional when it came to cases involving young women and girls. Peyton typed into the Artemis Community College records for more information. At first, she came up with nothing. The soldier began to get frustrated again. “Come on!” she thought. “There has to be something I could use!” Peyton tried again. Same thing as before. By now, the woman became ill with the machine.

“Come on!” she yelled out. “You must something on Emily! She needs justice for her attackers!” Missy and Papi watched her worried.

“Should we stop her?” Missy asked.

“Naw,” Papi replied. “You’ll only make it worse for the fire.” Missy nodded reluctantly. Working this case would be the only thing to get Peyton some peace again. So, better to step out of the way than to get stepped on in the process. Scott worked around the clock to help poor Emily. So far, she came up with nothing. Then, an idea came to her. The private first class made it back to the hospital. She felt Emily in her room. The victim’s condition hadn’t changed at all. Peyton stood over the girl. She decided to do a little test with her. This had to work. Peyton didn’t have anything else anymore.

“Emily,” the soldier spoke up. “Blink if you can hear me.” Peyton waited for a couple of minutes. The soldier could feel her heart pounding. “Come on!” she thought. “Give me something! I need to give you justice for the people who hurt you!” Time seemed to be dragged on. Finally, Emily blinked at her. Peyton became a little excited. But, she held it down some. She had to be sure first.

“Do you hear what I said?” she asked. Emily blinked once. Peyton’s heart raced in joy. Finally, a lead. Now to get down to business.

“Okay,” Peyton said. “Emily, listen to me. One blink for yes. Two blinks for no, okay?” Emily blinked once. The soldier pressed her hands together. “Great!” she thought. “We’re getting somewhere!

“Good,” Peyton replied. “Are you a student at Artemis Community College?” The victim blinked once. The private first class looked on overjoyed. She pulled out a notepad and pen.

“Okay,” she said. “Did you see the man who attacked you last night?” Emily blinked once. Peyton jotted down that note.

“Is your attacker a student too?” she asked. The victim blinked twice. The soldier wrote it down.

“A teacher?” she asked. Emily blinked twice. Peyton wrote it all down.

“Okay,” the soldier replied. “Anyone from the school in general?” The victim blinked twice. Peyton wrote all of the information down.

“Was it anyone that you knew?” she asked. Emily blinked twice. The soldier wrote it all down. Right then, she had her answer. “It was an incubus attack!” Peyton thought.

“Excuse me!” a voice called behind her. Scott whirled around her. A young man stood in the doorway watching them. He looked about college-aged. This boy looked really fine! Slender muscle build to his body. Tall with gorgeous brown-blue eyes. He had a bouquet of flowers in his hands. Peyton looked him up and down. His jeans and Death Cab for Cutie t-shirt caught his attention.

“Yes?” Peyton asked quietly. “Can I help you?” The boy stepped into the room.

“I’m Cole,” he answered. “Cole Weiss, Emily’s boyfriend.” Peyton blinked for a second. Then, it all sank in.

“Oh!” she called. “Her boyfriend!” The soldier turned to the patient. Emily’s eyes were lit up with eternal happiness. Scott relaxed some. “Good,” she thought. “He’s telling the truth!” Peyton turned back to the boy. He looked at her for a moment.

“And who are you?” Cole asked. Peyton stood up straighter.

“I am working on the people who did this to your girlfriend,” she replied. Cole’s eyes got big at those words. He dropped the flowers on the hospital floor.

“Do you know who did this?” Cole asked. “Tell me who did this to her!!!” Peyton held up her hand to him.

“Sorry sir,” she replied. “I am not authorized to give out details of the case.” Cole pulled back some.

“Well,” he said. “Can you at least tell me who did this after you catch them?” Peyton tightened up again.

“I will!” she promised. Cole looked at her overjoyed.

“I thank you, miss!” he said aloud. Then, he bowed his head at the private first class. Scott just sighed aloud. Did she just make a promise that she couldn’t keep? One thing Travis taught her not to do was to never make promises to the victim’s family that can’t necessarily be kept. Peyton had set herself up for a trap.

The next morning, Peyton came into Central Headquarters. “Hey guys,” she called. “I talked to our victim last night.” The girls all looked up at her in surprise. Travis raised an eyebrow at her.

“What do you mean, Private Scott?” he challenged. Peyton stepped forward smiling.

“I asked her to blink if she heard me,” the soldier replied.

“And did she?” Travis asked.

“Yes!” Peyton called in excitement. “I told her to blank once for yes and blink twice for no with my questions.” Travis raised his eyebrow at her again.

“And,” he said. “What all did you get?” Scott grinned at him boldly.

“Right here!” she called. The private first class handed him her notes. Travis read over them quietly. The girls came around to read with him. Peyton waited in pride. They all looked up at her again.

“This confirms what we knew all along!” Demetria gasped out.

“Emily was attacked by an incubus!” Papi added on.

“Which one?” Travis asked. They all looked at Peyton again. She stood waiting for them to speak.

“Shall I go back again?” the private first class asked. The other looked at her slightly worried. Sure, Peyton had got them the answer they needed. But yet, she seemed to be getting to emotionally attached to this case. Best to have someone monitor her before she rushes to judgments and the case gets blown out of the water. Travis nodded some.

“Yes,” he replied. “But take lt. Havoc with you.” Peyton nodded uneasily.

“Sir!” she called. Then, the private first class saluted her boss. She headed out the door. Travis and her “sisters” watched after her worried. “I hope you know what you’re doing, Peyton!” Travis thought. “We can’t afford to lose this case!

Havoc and Peyton made it to the hospital. This time, the private brought pictures with her. The army had come so close on this case. Just a few details to stick it to the Fallen Ones…

“Hey Scott,” Havoc spoke up.

“Hm?” the private replied.

“What are you going to do when we catch the attacker?” the lt. asked her. “It’s going to be difficult to jail an incubus.”

“True,” Peyton replied. “But we have to at least try so that more girls like Emily can be safe!” Havoc shrugged some.

“Whatever you say,” he replied. The man also noticed the problem right away. “She’s going too involved in this case!” he thought. He decided to keep a close eye on her just in case. They made it straight to Emily’s room. Cole sat by her bed. He looked up when he saw them.

“Officers!” he called. The boyfriend stood up right away. Peyton stepped forward.

“We are back for more questions,” she replied. Cole stepped away some. The private first class turned to the victim.

“Emily,” she said. “It’s me, Peyton.” The victim lied still for a moment.

“Blink if you can hear me,” Scott went on. Everyone waited for a long moment. Emily blinked once. Peyton forced herself to calm down in order to keep on.

“Okay,” she said. “You know the deal, blink once for yes and blink twice for no. Okay?” The victim blinked once. She turned to Havoc. He stepped forward and handed her the pictures. Peyton took in a deep breath. Here goes…

“Emily,” she spoke up. “I am going to show you pictures of our suspects. Just follow the same procedure as before to help us find who did this to you. Okay?” Emily blinked once. Peyton drew in another deep breath.

“Alright,” she said. She held up a picture of Edward. “Him?” she asked. The victim blinked twice.

“Okay,” Peyton replied. She moved to the next picture. “Him?” the private asked. Azrael’s picture came up. Emily blinked twice. Peyton moved to the next picture.

“Him?” she asked. Serkan’s picture next. The victim blinked twice.

“Alright,” the private first class said. She turned to the final picture. “Him?” Peyton asked. Dr. Pierce’s picture came up. Emily’s eyes filled up with great fear. She blinked many times. Then suddenly, the victim went into shock. Cole, Peyton, and Havoc all panicked.

“Nurse!” the private first class screamed out. “We need the nurse here!” The doctors and nurses all rushed to the victim’s aid. Peyton watched in horror. “No!” she thought. “Please don’t die, Emily! You’re much stronger than that! You can’t give up! You can’t give up now!” The night ended up being a long one.

Peyton couldn’t function by morning. Her mind kept fading back to Emily. She wouldn’t talk, work, or play her music. She just stared out into space for hours at a time.

“Hey Scott,” a voice said above her. The soldier looked above her. Havoc stood over her with his cigarette hanging out of his mouth as usual.

“It’s not your fault,” he assured her. “She’ll pull through just fine, I promise you that.” Peyton didn’t look convinced.

“She has to survive!” the private first class called. “She’s part of the puma clan! Emily’s too tough to die!” Havoc lightly shook his head.

“You’re getting to mixed up in this case,” he lightly pointed out. “You just need to take a little break and let someone else take over for a little while.” Scott looked at him slightly pissed on that one. Havoc backed up some.

“Maybe not,” he said. “But you might to pull back some before you do something you’ll regret.” Peyton looked away and sighed. So that’s it then. Just sit back and wait for something to happen? That just wasn’t right at all. Peyton flopped back into her chair. She felt so powerless right now.

But then, a little hope opened its doors again. Quite literally. The doors flew right open. Havoc and Scott looked up right away. Demetria stood in the doorway panting like mad.

“Hey!” she called out. “I went to the labs on Emily’s rape kit. We’ve got a match!” Peyton and Havoc looked up surprised.

“Who is it?” Scott asked in desperation. Demetria held up her hand smiling.

“Dr James Pierce,” she replied. Peyton’s determination shot up higher.

“I knew it!” she called out. “We have to go get him!!!”

“But how?” Havoc pointed out. Peyton sat down on that one. He had a point there. Demetria watched the lt. and the private closely.

“Shall I go report to Barrett?” she asked.

“Yes,” Peyton said in weak defeat.

“Alright,” her friend replied. Then she headed out the door. Havoc gently put his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him on that one.

“Don’t worry,” he assured her. “We will get that guy! We’ll get them all! We’ll get justice for Emily, I promise!” Peyton nodded at him in slow crushed belief. She didn’t really believe him on that one. The Fallen ones refused to go down that easily. It would take a god or a higher power to bring them down.

That evening, Peyton visited Emily and Cole in the hospital. She found them in the room. Cole looked up at her with eyes of sad desperation. Peyton developed a lump in her throat. Something told her that things had taken a turn for the worse. She was afraid to ask what happened. “Right,” Scott thought to herself. “I’m here to deliver the good news.” Peyton forced herself to straighten up some.

“We have identified the man who did this to girlfriend, sir,” she pushed out of her mouth. Cole looked up with that same sad hope he had in his eyes.

“Who is it?” he asked. Scott felt sick to her stomach was again. Surely she couldn’t tell this decent college boy that an incubus raped and assaulted his girlfriend. He wouldn’t be any to take it. So, Peyton did the next best thing. She left out some little details in the truth.

“A former doctor named Dr. Pierce attacked her,” she replied. “He is a sexual predator and he saw Emily as an easy target. We are doing everything in our best power to track him down and bring him to justice.” Cole did his best to fight back his tears. He lowered his head in reply.

“She’s brain dead!” he announced muffled through his head. Peyton froze in slight shock at those words.

“What?” she asked.

“The doctors came in and said that she’ll live, but she’s close to brain dead.” The private first class tried her best to keep down her sorrow. She had to put on a brave face now. For Emily and Cole’s sake.

“I understand,” she replied. “We will catch that creep and bring him to justice!” The boyfriend couldn’t hold back anymore. He broke down into heavy tears. Peyton quickly left the room in order to keep her brave face.

Outside in the hall, Peyton broke down crying. She sank down to the floor in sorrow.

“You okay?” a voice asked her. The private first class looked up right away. Travis stood over her with sympathy in his eyes. His daughter sobbed again.

“It’s not fair!” she cried out. “She’s never going to live her life ever again. All of the justice in the world can never bring Emily back ever again! Never! And all because a predator’s sick hunger for an innocent girl!” Peyton broke down crying once again. Travis gave her a little smile and gently patted her on the head. Peyton looked up at him once more.

“Sometimes justice for a victim’s family and loved ones are never enough,” Travis told her in a low voice. “All we can do is to catch the criminal and see to it that they can never hurt anyone else ever again. Understood?” Peyton stared at him for a while at first. It all slowly came back to her in her head. She nodded at him once. Travis smiled as he handed his hand out to her.

“Now come on,” he said. “We have some incubi and succubi to track down!” Peyton’s pride came back at those words.

“Yeah!” she called out. Then, the private first class took his hand. Travis handed her to her feet and they headed right down the hall back to work.
