Mystic Dancer:

Simone’s Notes:

Dancing, love, and sex all have seemed together throughout history. A woman dances to attract a mate. Her body seems to send messages to the man saying that she is available for him to sleep with. Each step and move have to be perfect or else the mate loses interest in the hunter. In Arabic cultures, dancers were used to entertain the king. Today, dancing is still used to attract a mate. Salsa, belly, and pole are the dances of choice.

Steven sat in the bar with his drink. He looked around the bar. “Where is Maes?” he thought as he looked around. “He assured me that he would come out here tonight! Did he forget?” The lieutenant colonel was about to go him when he saw Yasmine just a few feet down from him. She looked bored to be at a bar on a Saturday night. Steven’s heart skipped a beat by the mere sight of her. “Oh God it’s her!” he thought. His eye of objection was here in the same bar he was! Then, the guy began to remember what his son, Paul, told him. “Just by yourself and don’t try to botch it this time!” the boy had told him. So, Steven straightened his appearance up some and began walking over to her. Yasmine looked up and saw Steven. She smiled to herself sweetly. “Here he comes!” the woman thought. “Maybe he’ll have some backbone this time!” For weeks, she had hoped that Steven would come up with some way to hit on him so that she could try to get with him. But so far, that didn’t look possible. She hoped that tonight would be different.

Steven made it over to Yasmine. “Hi!” he said quickly. The objection of affection smiled at him. “Well, hello.” she replied. Steven looked at her for a long time. Yasmine was still as lovely as ever. Her long black hair that lightly brushed her shoulder was behind her small ears tonight. Her greenish brown eyes were like expensive mint chocolate. Oh and her smile! She could turn the devil himself pure with it! Steven tried his hardest to not look down at her breasts. Yasmine smiled sweetly at him. “Well,” she said. Steven looked up at her again. His eye affection was eyeing him. “She waiting for me to say something!” the lieutenant colonel thought. “Well, here goes!” “You look great tonight!” Steven spoke up. “Thanks!” Yasmine replied. The man began to feel great. “Wow!” he thought. “I can actually do this!” But soon, another problem would arise.

Doug was off in the corner with his drink. He was watching Steven and Yasmine. The man was plotting. “When the moment is right,” he thought. “I’ll walk over to her and make my move!” He kept watching closely. He wanted the woman from the first time he heard his rival describe her to all of his friends in the locker room. Doug had secretly followed Steven around to find out more about his target. Now that he had the info, it was time to act and steal the prize away for himself. Steven and Yasmine seemed to be enjoying each other’s company. Doug thought he would be sick. How anyone could stand to enjoy that loser-in-love was beyond him. Little girls may love Steven but the real women wanted Doug in their beds all night long.

At long last, Steven got up to head off to the bathroom. Doug grinned in joy. “Now’s my chance!” he thought. Then, the first lieutenant rose to his feet and began walking over to his target. Yasmine was waiting for Steven to get back when someone lightly tapped her on the shoulder. The woman slowly turned to see Doug looking at her. “Hi there!” he said. “Hello.” Yasmine replied uneasily. “Who he is and why is he talking to me?” she thought. The first lieutenant took a seat in front of her. “Time to work the charm!” he thought. Then, Doug began talking to his coveted prize.

Steven came back into the bar and saw Yasmine talking to Doug. She seemed to be enjoying herself with him. Steven crashed into despair. He thought that he had lost another one. Steven turned back and walked into the bathroom. He washed his face into the water. The lieutenant colonel stared hard at himself in the mirror. “Why does this always happen to me?” he thought. “I thought she was the one this time! Where did I go wrong?” Steven thought about giving up again. But then, Paul’s voice came back into his head. “Remember this dad,” he said. “If Doug tries to move, don’t give up until you give it your all!” Steven became strong again. “Yes Paul!” he thought. “I won’t give up that easily! I’ll try to get Yasmine in my grasp and keep her!” And with that, Steven fixed up his wet hair and marched out to the bar.

But when he got back out again, Yasmine and Doug were nowhere in sight. This didn’t look good. Steven quickly looked around the place. They had left the building. The lieutenant colonel felt sick to his stomach. “Did I lose after all?” he thought. He looked around to see if they had just moved to another location in the bar. Nope! Doug and Yasmine were gone! They were nowhere in the bar! Defeat and worry came over him fast. “I lost again!” he thought in disappointment. “This always happens to me! Why can’t I have a plot twist in my love life?” Steven was crushed all of a sudden. He walked over to the bar tender, paid his tab, and left the bar. Steven walked home crushed. His one chance of happiness was gone forever. The man sighed to himself in sorrow. Now, it was time for hours of eating mint chocolate ice cream and crying in his bed while Paul tried to get him out of defeat mode. But soon, things would change and look brighter.

The lieutenant colonel was walking past the clock tower in the park when something caught his attention. He saw Yasmine all alone near the fountain. Steven looked around him. Doug was nowhere in sight. This was strange. The lieutenant colonel looked at the woman at the fountain again. Yasmine seemed to be dancing with herself. Steven was confused. He pinched himself hard in the arm to see if his was dreaming. But the image didn’t change. Yasmine was dancing alone in the park. She seemed to be moving along to some music that was so far away that only she could hear it. The woman looked lovely in the moonlight. Her curves and movements were of a belly dancer’s for a rich and powerful king. Yasmine had every movement perfectly. Steven wanted to do so many things to her but he didn’t know where to start.

At last, he got up the courage and walked over to her. Yasmine was still dancing and didn’t notice that she now had an audience. She didn’t notice until she stopped dancing and looked up. Steven was smiling at her. “Did you know you could get arrested for that?” he asked. Yasmine looked at him smiling. “On what grounds?” she asked. The lieutenant colonel stepped to her. “Stealing any unsuspecting man’s heart!” he replied. “When that guy came over to me and flirted with me,” she explained. “I left.” Steven became overjoyed. He was happy to learn that she didn’t leave with his rival. There was still hope yet for him.

Yasmine looked around quickly. “In fact,” she said. “I have something for you.” Steven looked lost. “What do you mean?” he asked. “Come closer,” his eye of affection said. The lieutenant colonel complied. Yasmine smiled and gave him a kiss on the lips. Fireworks went off in his mind. The man almost forgot what that was like! He quickly kissed back. When she was done, the woman backed away. Steven stared at her in deep bliss. Yasmine just smiled at him and said, “Good night.” Then she turned and left. The lieutenant colonel stood there in happy shock. He had won for once in his love life!

Yasmine made it home to her apartment. Her friend sat on the couch in the living room. “Did he finally act?” she asked. “Yeah,” Yasmine answered. “He finally came around. I was going to lose hope on him too. But he finally stepped up and spoke to me.” “So it’s on then?” her friend asked. “Yep!” Yasmine replied. “That’s good.” the friend said. The host sat down next to her and took a drink.
