Beast of the Moon:

Simone’s Notes:

Desire is a sense of longing or hoping for a person, object, or outcome. The same sense is expressed by emotions such as "craving" or "hankering". When a person desires something or someone, their sense of longing is excited by the enjoyment or the thought of the item or person, and they want to take actions to obtain their goal. The motivational aspect of desire has long been noted by philosophers; Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679) asserted that human desire is the fundamental motivation of all human action. In Hinduism, the Rig Veda's creation myth Nasadiya Sukta states regarding the one ekam, spirit: "In the beginning there was Desire, kama, that was first seed of mind. Poets found the bond of being in non-being in their heart's thought". In Buddhism, for an individual to effect his or her liberation, the flow of sense-desire must be cut completely; however, while training, he or she must work with motivational processes based on skillfully applied desire. According to the early Buddhist scriptures, the Buddha stated that monks should "generate desire" for the sake of fostering skillful qualities and abandoning unskillful ones.

-Manami-

I stare at him behind his glass cage.

He’s so beautiful.

He’s like my own child.

I have such high hopes for him.

He will help bring upon the very world that I dream of.

He took so much of me to make.

He’s born out my lust.

I didn’t make him alone, however.

The slaves helped to make him perfect.

Their desire fuels him.

Their love feeds him.

However, he isn’t complete.

He’s still sound asleep.

I don’t know how to wake him up.

Their love isn’t reaching him to waken him.

I need to secure more love.

I sit before his cage, thinking.

Where can I get more love?

Damon’s a potential source, but it’s enough.

Edward’s been good, but I still need more.

My own child needs to awaken for this world to be reborn.

I lean forward and kiss the bars.

“Rest, my child. For you will see your day too.”

I smile at my words and head back to my room.

Edward is waiting for me in my bed tonight.

I lean in the doorway, smiling.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
